Now really who want's to be the first to post this? The first SC munched never got it's own thread and most of the original deleted. Not many even know. Want to take a guess what pulley was being ran? Yes a 178, you got it right... NOT. Does the pulley have anything to do with it? Only time will tell. Should it be considered in the equation?
Cruzin it seems to me you have issues with anybody who runs a different set-up then you and the almighty 178 pulley and needswings intake. Superchargers get munched on stock cars, pistons crack on stock cars also. He could have had a piece of carbon dislodge(factory PCV set-up) and cause a hot spot in the piston resulting in this issue. It could have been poor fuel and slow burn that caused the issue. Also it seems that he runs his car abnormally hard so in light of that 40,000 miles on a daily beaten motor is pretty good. You also like to post that the 178 is the fastest set-up, well the fastest car is a 181.
Nobody will know for sure what the actual cause was, there will only be speculation on the cause, most probable will be lean condition and heat, but it may be partially due to a weak alloy mixture on a factory piston(s), poor quality motor oil weak oil pump bad fuel or other contaminants. You can data log all you want it isn't going to stop a motor from blowing if a factory part is weak or an injector sticks open. It only helps to make sure things are where they should be prior to something deciding to let go
