Why is this so much anyway? There do not seem to be any
parts or labor involved. Am I missing a key part of this process?

The only part of the process you are missing is the experience and the equipment . As the old saying goes; If it was easy everybody could & would be doing it.

These cars aren't easy to tune. It takes a lot of experience to know what can be done and how to do it. And the biggest thing you need to remember is that "You" are expecting "them" to do it right AND stand behind "their" work.

My advice to you is if paying for a remap of your ECU is too much you can choose to either leave it stock or buy one of the performance chips on eBay. ~ either way You'll get what you pay for.

We could also look at your statement from another perspective. Let's take this view;

I don't know what you do for a living but given your post I am sure you are over charging for you services based upon the fact you have $600 of disposable income.

How does that sound to you?

Please, you expect a decent wage for your services so don't belittle the services of one of the few vendors that we do have. I'm sorry if this comes off a bit strong but -

don't minimize the "proven" services and results we do get from our vendors...

JMHO - Thanks TVT, NeedsWings & EuroCharged. End of MisterTaz's Rant!

Stay safe...
