Seriously, though, I started w/stock Conti's, and wasn't happy.
Then I got Nitto Invo's; not too pricy, and just what you are looking for on dry and wet roads. Good in low temps, but not on snow or ice. The tread pattern dampens road noise very well, and the flexible sidewalls really smoothed out the ride. Great grip dry, and they virtuallly ignore rain.
I recently got Sumitomo HTR-ZIII's; ; a little cheaper than the Nitto's, and, except for the stiffer sidewall for tight turns, not quite as good.
