I have replaced tons of these things, never seen a light come on before. I have seen an error in star diag before.
The problem is that contaminents sometimes get into the system and eventually will break down the blades on the fan. The car thinks its fine, however even though its spinning the fan, the blades are not there anymore...
Cheap and easy fix...
