Re: full exhaust or just muffler
For what it's worth...
Step 1...I replaced the stock "librarian" muffler with a
flowmaster
. Sounded great but just to loud for a daily driver; cell phone conversations were out! Soooo I had the shop put a cherrybomb type
resonator
"upstream" a bit of the flowmaster and it quieted it down nicely. Problem solved but then it began to intermitently resonate and vibrate and just plain ANNOY me! Seems flowmasters are rather aggressive critters and magnaflows are more cultured
Step 2...put the stock one back on and save up for a magnaflow.
Step 3... Ordered the
Magnaflow
14861, a bit on the larger side but it fit ok and I like the tips. It sounded better with
no rattle
. OK? Well, I couldn't resist reving it up one night in front of some boy racers ricers and was embarrassed by the magnaflow being subdued by that darn resonater.
Step3...had the shop remove the cherrybomb deal-e-o from step 1. He said it wouldnt make much difference but it really did. It sounds great now, ugh, finally.
Guess the correct course of action was to just go with the magnaflow in the first place.
Yes, I realize how much Ive paid to dance with the exhaust note of my car. And for what its worth, it took
two more
visits to the shop to get the tips leveled and then centered. I only pray my TVT CAI install will be eaiser...OMG, my CAI?! Ive already spent 70 bucks on K&N stock filters last sept....here I go again
