Re: Reasons why glass seperates from top
I took my SRT6 Roadster to Dallas Dodge for several issues (warranty runs out June) and the window separating from the top on the driver side was one of the problems. The service writer was not surprised at all to see the problem and acknowledged that it is common. I just got it back yesterday.
For the top, they sent it out to a Trim Shop that specializes in convertibles. They resealed the window with a heat curing, silicone base sealant. I was able to figure out who the shop was from my receipt and gave them a call, since others have had less than great results from this type of repair.
The fellow I spoke with told me that hey have repaired at least a dozen Crossfire Roadsters with this problem in the last 3 years and have only had to take a second pass at one as far as he could recall. Maybe the problem is repairable if done in this way. I will be watching the window/seal area like a hawk for any further separation.
