Re: Air Intakes
Didn’t mean to come across as negative towards your ideas. I like what you have done. Very good. (Meant to be sincere)
Didn’t intend to compare your intake to the short intakes offered for on the Cadillac’s but wanted to mention the fact in some cases the issue of heat is so notable it makes the difference between gain and a tip to the loss side. Because the Mercedes system mentioned below is so lame even a warm air intake is better. In this case.
lol please don’t defend that Mercedes intake the location of the small hoses does not make up for the heat sink filter system... what is important is the engine is so over engineered that the intake is really an afterthought. On the 500 series they use fins on the intake as well .
I have been doing this for awhile and you have no need to be worried I have no intention to step on your toes...actually I thought I would be defending your idea from some who placed the stock system as such a great system. My system that I have been working on for this Benz has been gong on for a few weeks and done completely separately from your endeavor. I was only sharing because you seemed open and interested. If you make a great system I would rather buy it than copy it. Most intakes I make are not for mass use most are individual custom units.
The car (Benz) I am working with has two hoses and in the same basic location. Its all AMG anyway, as I am sure you know.
If AMG made the stock plastic case out of a phenolic material and used larger hoses it would work with the stock format. The material for the boxes should have to be at least 1/2 inch to actually provide the protection and the seal airtight.
Most don’t care and that’s fine for the Benz crowd.
Dude coming directly from the champ its ok I didn’t mean any malice.. Relax.
Champ.
