First, do not use the hand brake on your Crossfire, to help in slippery conditions. Your traction control will do that for you.

Secondly, the hand brake system on the Crossfire is not designed to be an E brake. It is a parking brake and is not designed for use as a driving tool.

Your engagement of the E brake while the car is moving will engage the traction control brake system and set off an alarm if the TC is on. It will still set off the alarm if the TC is off.

Again, this is not your father's Oldsmobile. Pulling the E brake while rolling will set send a message to the computer and it will set of the TC system .

If you are stuck in snow, or wet leaves as I was at the Dragon last April, and try to power your way out, the brakes will engage on your manual and you will simply burn them up. To power out you must disengage the TC system and use the hand brake. But, this is silly as the TC will do this for you and much better than you can.

Just shift up and keep the rpms low, feathering the clutch.

So, there you go.
