Noisy clutch??
My 2005 manual transmission Crossfire (60k miles) has developed a weird noise which is (I think) something to do with the clutch/flywheel action. When I engage the clutch there is a low pitched 'metallic' grinding noise which I can only describe as sounding like something loose or needing adjusting. It is most noticeable in slow stop-start traffic when the engine has warmed up (don't hear it when cold at start up) and when engaging low gears (especially 1st or 2nd). I've also noticed lately that the noise can also sometimes be heard at low crawling speeds in traffic in 1st or 2nd gear even when the clutch is not engaged.
Does anyone have any ideas what might be the cause? Would it be worth checking the clutch fluid level? If so how do I do this? Or does it sound like a new clutch or flywheel is on the cards? Apologies if there are threads about this elsewhere on the site but I don't often visit (usually only when I have a problem!).
Thanks,
Ecosse_Cross
