Default Advice, Please

I suspect many of you went through the same dilemma I'm facing and I was hoping you might share how you resolved it.

I'm in my early 50s and ready to reward myself with a fun car. I have been leaning toward a used '03 BMW Z-4 or Audi TT coupe. Most reviews seem pretty complimentary of these cars.

On the other hand, it seems I can get a new 2004 Crossfire coupe (does not necessarily need to be a roadster) for less than the used BMW.

The reviews on the Crossfire are not as complimentary as the BMW, but I'm not sure if the issues mentioned are really that significant to me. Sacrificing some degree of handling in favor of a smoother ride is fine with me.

I've read the Crossfire 6 speed is 'notchy'. What does this mean in real world terms?

I'd use this car as a daily driver, and for short weekend trips.

Appreciate your thoughts on this.

Thanks!

Ed
