Re: Canned and Dashed
Today I did an experiment. I took the car out and got in a sprint to 70 mph with the coolant temp at 180. No good. I appears we have a threshold to pass before the car will perform. I logged 5º less timing across the rpm range and the car short shifted at 5500 RPM. I'm convinced the car will make more power at a cooler temp but perhaps 190º is a better place to start. I want to try warming the car up and then letting it cool down to see if that makes a difference. I drove a mile before I could make the test so the car wasn't "cold" but it hadn't gotten hot either. Anyone know what the threshold temp is? Is it transmission temp? Some other temperature threshold? Is there a stepped threshold? In data logging I've only seen 6048 rpm once. I had put that down to the slow sample rate of my version of the dashdaq (I need the latest software, it logs every 3ms instead of every 5) but perhaps there's another parameter involved. Any knowledgeable enlightened blessed individuals know for sure?
