I also roll start 2nd; California stops 1 mph 2nd. I was curious about cold starting in 2nd, but did not like the feel. When starting in 1st, I have trained myself to get out of it quick, as the revs build fast here. The power band seems pretty forgiving in all remaining gears. Enjoy the ride.
