its like driving my big rig, as long as you are rolling a little and not dead stop taking off, you will be fine...keeping everything engaged helps with the wear and tear...now dead stops, I would start in 1st just enough to get the wheels turning, then upshift...with good timing though, you can always about keep rolling a little...
