I had a heck of a time getting mine to work. I think the second day I owned the car I spent an hour in the driveway trying to set the darn thing. Every so often I would go out and try it again. This went on for about two years. Even downloaded the info from Homelink which wasn't all that different from what is in our manual. Finally one afternoon it took and has worked flawlessly since. So we get a Mercedes which has the same Homelink system, this was in September of 07. Same thing happens. You can literally sit there and mess with it for hours and it wont take. I actually have memorized the instructions I've tried it so many times. I don't know if its the opener or the system but its a real P I t A!
