Hey,Watwaszat, Your friend made a BIG mistake !The SRT wasn't a new engine or platform he should have known that a SLKamg is not a PORSCHE 911 or A Boxster, that even PORSCHE Owners don't really like but they buy them new because they're CHEAPER than a 911.
As for what the SRT-6 is a real nice low production speciality car that was not designed to sell to racecar guys for track use ! It probably won't even be made NEXT year 06. BUT
If I was to want a race car for going to the track i'd drive the Corvette new is 43k, or if you have deep pockets and you are married to a porsche mechanic buy a used porsche not an 99up though those are not real ones .Air,oil, COOLED only.
