I replaced my filter a few weeks ago thinking that was it, I used a carbon filter (supposed to cut down on smells) and the same problem is still there. After it runs for a few minutes, it is fine again - no smell, but at startup, there is a musty smell. Any ideas??
I used to get that but it went away.... not sure what it is. Sometimes I like to hit the reset button when I turn the car off and let the fan blow the remaining cool air out of the system. If you let that cool air stay in there and start the car up again in a few hours (after the car has been sitting in a garage or sun) the first breath of air can be musty. I like to turn the AC off early while driving the car and let the vent blow all the air out of the system before storing the car for a long time. Or I will hit the reset button and let it blow everything out automatically. You have to keep the system dry or it will stink up the car. Some people are amazed at that feature in our car.
