Re: Oil Pressure Too High ?
110psi is high, you only need about 10psi per thousand to overcome centrifugal forces. Much over that is power robbing and terrible loading on the oil pump drive mechanism. If your pump does not have a bad relief valve, then you may have oil that is the wrong weight, and depending on the location of the pressure gauge in the oiling system a partiallyplugged oil filter. My relief on a prepped Pinto used to go over 100+ on startup due to a broken relief spring that jammed the pop off valve assy. Fixed that fast, an oil change is in order and I use a CLEAN drain pan in the sunlight to search for tramp metal and trash in the old oil, sometimes you can find metal and a magnetic probe will tell you steel, or aluminum, brass and copper from fittings and bearings are visible by color.
