I wonder if GM had future plans to resurrect the Firebird/Trans Am before Government Motors put the ax to Pontiac. That would have helped them defer the development cost over two cars. Now they have to count on one car to do that. Oh wait, we the tax payers just did that for them. 
I saw a article yesterday about the top 10 reasons why pontiac failed...there is a portion on the trans am concept that had been introduced.
