When you stop the car, does it happen while you are still in the seat? .. or just as you climb out? If it happens just as you are getting in and out, the only thing I could imagine is maybe a shock sucking air.

It happens when I'm in the seat still as well but it stops shortly after I get out and open my trunk and start looking/hearing for the sound. Now that you mention the shock sucking air, it certainly sounds plausible. I just didn't know that could happen, but I guess with all the potholes in NYC it wouldn't be surprising if it "broke" or something like that.
PS: Yes, as you can tell I'm not very "mechanical."
