Default Re: ridiculous depreciation :-(

We bought an 06 Xfire a couple of months ago (UK) and both the “book price” and advertisers prices (e.g. Autotrader etc) appear to have gone up over that period. The book price went up £200 within a week of us buying it. Three months ago when I told the guy who services our cars (and he owns a big independent service centre in the north of England) that I was thinking about buying a Xfire his exact words were “they are the deal of the century right now” – that convinced me that they were a good buy. Maybe the UK is bucking the trend, but after massive initial depreciation these cars appear to be bouncing back now that they are no longer in production (and there are very few over here anyway). The price/depreciation etc did however have little to do with us buying one, we just think that it looks great, drives well and frankly I don’t care if its worth peanuts, I would still want one.
