I may have been misunderstood. The design and flow of the muffler may make the use of an H pipe use less other than for a structural point. The Dynomax ultra-flo x has an x pipe built into it's design. As for the other mufflers I don't know about their designs. If we could leave off the H pipe it might make the system slightly cheaper and easier to build.
As far as the 3.8L the Sprinter uses a 3.7L that shares the same stroke as our wonderful 3.2's. The bore is much larger. If our blocks could be bored to the 3.7's bore we could pick up 1/2 a liter. We might just need a set of pistons, rings and a trip to a good machine shop to put it very simply. I was wondering if that is the basis for the 3.8L.
There is no substitute for cubic inches or liters.
