Default Brake Light Fuse

This is a follow up on an earlier thread.

The BAP/ESP comes on intermittently and the light on the dash indicates that lights are not functioning. Since the light only comes on when braking, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to conclude the failure is in the brake light system.

I removed the panel on the driver's side of the dash and checked the 15 amp fuse. It was fine. However, when I reinstalled it, the brake light system was working again. Go figure.

I assumed that something was interfering with the flow of the current through the fuse, which tripped the computer. I cleaned both fuse electrodes with solvent and figured the problem was solved. WRONG!!!!

I've tried a new fuse, but the problem persists.

Now I'm faced with a dilemma. Since it only happens about once every 3 weeks and takes about 3 minutes to correct, should I spend $$$$$$ to have a dealer try to figure out the problem???

If anyone has a valid suggestion, I'm open.
