Re: First ticket
well, I can't take this anymore....so here goes, at least for Indiana...in the first place, budgets don't drive the writing of citations...monies recieved by the courts goes back to "state coffers", where it is divided up according to approved budgets, by the court system, enforcement, highways, etc...no one dept gets all the monies...its also only a fraction of the overall budgets of these depts. If this were the case, then, believe me, kangaroo court would be in session...speed trap after speed trap would be set up everywhere, and I know some of you believe this happens now, but it doesn't, at least not in Indiana...that's why the "checks and balances" have to be in place...now, margin of error in Ka band radars is 4-5 mph....so most of us don't write anything under 5 mph over. In fact, most officers don't write anything under 9 mph over...10, then, usually you will get stopped, more than likely cited, depending on the officer and your actions...so, at least for my state, budgets have nothing to do with citations, but number of accidents, complaints on certain sections of highways does...finally, a radar detector is only as good as the operator, you still have to pay attn...as I have stated on here many times, back when this old guy was still on the road, my radar was never activated until I observed the violator, at which time, my thumb was always faster than his foot, but for all those others around him with detectors, they knew now that I was in the area, but I got my target....just my .02 from an old cop...
