This car could be the twin to mine, other than that mine is 6-speed.
Check out the seat heaters - they are the first thing to go.
Check out the tires - replacing them is not cheap.

You can probably talk him down $1,000, but I would try to talk him into giving you the MaxCare Extended warranty. Then you won'd have to worry about finding something wrong six months down the road.
