I failed to update on my experience.
I changed my tires first, and then the stabilizer a few weeks later. Tire change had more perceived impact of course.
The old stabilizer wasn't in too poor a condition, and I am keeping as an emergency spare. However the new stabilizer made a distinct difference when going over some familiar bumps along my daily commute. The steering wheel does not wander over them like they used to.
Having been my first actual mechanical DIY, I still keep looking at my rearview each time I hit a bump, expecting to see my stabilizer left on the road You can see that I have much self-confidence in my own handiwork... I have long ways to go before approaching the level of the mechanical wizards on this forum
