Default Re: Puncture repair experiance

Well, I had a slice in my rear tire and after going to 2 major tire specialist, I had to go to the dealer. The tire specialty shops said the 19" rims didn't work on their machines. As far a the sensor goes, when they have to remove the tire from the rim, they just unscrew the sensor and it drops into the tire. After that they just remove the tire and do a repair from the inside. They said that the repair may not hold, as it was a good slice but it has been two weeks and still OK. Like CrossfireLTD, I have a patch kit also, however the repair shops said that there was a good chance of separating the tread with the kit, so they never use the plug! I was in the city so I'll take there word for it, but if I was out on the highway I would probably use the plug too. Certainly before filling it with the DC sauce! Oh yeah! to put the tire back on the rim, you have to put the sensor in level (and as close and parallel to the rim as possible) and tighten it up holding it there. This way it shouldn't catch on the tire machine.
