Door open door closed I know how that works, our problem has nothing to do with that.

To get the switch to work I have to remove it from the trim panel. The internals of the switch wear out prematurely.

I have disassemble the switch and rebuilt it from internals from the passenger seat, which does not use the height adjustment.

I just figured someone else had the issue and found a solution. I have considered rewiring it to use double throw momentary switches if I can find one that are small enough and can handle the amperage.
