The rumors are that there might be some kind of replacement. Cars shipping now have a different radio, but as far as I know the only difference is with the display, which could not be read in sunlight. As for the other problems with the radio, I am not impressed with the AM/FM sound quality, but rarely listen the radio anyway, so it hasn't bothered me that much. Sound quality with CDs is decent, I would have probably been more impressed if I hadn't heard the sound systems in my parents Jaguar and Lexus, which are probably the best out there.
