i have searched all over and noone can confirm the motor in a srt-6 is a hand built motor from amg.
All due respect, but take a look at the 'kompressor' perched on top of the engine in the SRT models. There's a pretty little AMG logo engraved into the metal.
And as you said, MB doesn't simply slap a supercharger on any ol' 3.2L six. They put them on AMG engines. The brakes, exhaust are all AMG.
Don't just take my word for it; consult Motor Trend. Trust those guys?
Basically, the SRT has a tremendous amount of AMG within it. And, as luck would have it, it is marginally faster (stock-to-stock) than the SLK 32, which gets the AMG bragging rights. Blood relatives can determine the fate of a will, so I'd say it's less crucial of a situation if a car with AMG pedigree chooses to advertise such.
Look at it this way... there is a Brabus version of the Smart Car.
