Tommy a couple of things:

1. The Sterring stabilizer helps reduce the pull on the steering wheel as you drive on uneven and grooved roadways.

2. Although yours may be leaking it does not mean that it is junk or gone but it likely is less effective.

3. The dealer is quoting a real price (yes very inflated but real). I just had mine replaced under warranty and they wanted $650 for the part alone. I saw the actual dealer cost and what it was to me and the difference was only $100 bucks.

4. THe most important part, you can save a ton by buying one on amazon (do a search on the site) and if you are even a bit of a wrench it is a two bolt deal and you are back in business.

Trust me after I had mine done (car only has 19k) I noticed a big difference and it too was a leaker.
