You'd think now that all the bankrupcy stuff has passed, and with the backing of our increasing government involvement, we should see an improvement in Chrysler's ability to pay the vendors and get parts moving again.
It rains ALOT in FL this time of year. Luckily, the epoxy from round-1 is still holding firm, and maybe ..., just maybe, when they re-seal the rest, it will last until my new top arrives.
What a pain ...
With nothing at all to substantiate my claim, you might as well forget about ever getting a new rag top from Chrysler. The business environment of the auto industry is so screwed up that I doubt if re-stocking replacement parts for a limited production and discontinued automobile is on the immediate to-do list for either GM or Chrysler.
You might as well find a local vendor to fabricate a new top. While you're at it, for the non-black genre, get one in a color to accent your Crossfire body.
And while sharing SLK parts with MB offers some hope, one would suspect that ALL body and trim parts for the XF will become increasingly rare. So watch that rear-view mirror, and if you reside in Florida, KEEP THE DAMN THING IN THE GARAGE!
