I believe the "tow away" toggle just disables the alarm from going off if the car is lifted. I had my SRT6 flatbedded and, come to think of it, I did not press that button and the alarm never went off. Anyway, you may be experiencing the dreaded failing ignition switch syndrome. Do a search and you'll see quite a few threads.
