Multimeters are cheap at harbor freight, like 3$ EACH and work fine. Blow it up and you cant complain.
They also include instructions, and there are pleanty of places on the web.
Point:
Intermittants are just that and hard to fix unless you catch them at the right time.
I believe that the module may be intermittant and you can swap them for a week or so to make a long term test.
Ordering the multimeters is a simple way to extend your skill set and capability.
