Default Parts Data Base

What does everyone think about setting up a database for part descriptions, part numbers and a cross reference to Mercedes part numbers where applicable ?

There are enough do-it-yourselfers on this forum to fill up a few megs of memory if everyone contributes.

What brought this on was me attempting to find a pair of grease seals for Rosey's front wheel hubs. Auto Zone = no listing, Chrysler = no part anywhere in Texas and Mercedes = needed a vin number from the car, of course the vin on our cars does Mercedes no good what so ever !

I finally had Chrysler check their cross reference to a Mercedes number, called the local MB shop and surprize ..... 10 in stock !

Should this idea be brought up to the moderators or the Mighty himself ?
