On my 04, (6-spd) I simply disconnected the center wire from the traction control. Like Apkano pointed out, mine goes right up to red line with no problem, and everything works as normal except of course, TC and anti-locks.
Makes my car lots more fun to drive, without having to deal with the "black box" putting my car into "limp mode" every single time the rear tire loses traction for a fraction of a second. (no matter if the "factory" tc switch was on or not).
Later models tend to have more problems when you tamper with the TC, from what I understand.
