Pleased to report that on a whim I stopped at our local hardware store (Van Wieren) and they had a nice selection of bolts in various lengths. Picked up an 80mm (about 2.5") for all of $3.89. On the way out I mentioned that I had to hack the head off and they offered to do it for me in the back room -- and I gladly accepted the offer. I'll be trying it out next weekend when I remove the wheels for their pre-winter cleaning/waxing.
Do you think you could get them to do a whole box (or two)? You could probably cover your expenses ++ if you want to do your forum friends a favor. Just a thought.
