I believe that a crash against a tree at anything above 50mph will require a fairly beefy roll cage, 5-point harness, helmet and a HANS system. At 100mph, you're looking at some very complex crash structures to absorb the impact - especially against a tree, which is essentially a brick wall. A 1970's unibody chassis unfortunately doesn't count.
