Default Re: R170 SLK Supercharge Inv. Parts

For what it is worth, I have a supercharged Corvette and am hitting 12 pounds of boost with water methanol injection, I'm usiing a stock short block with 10.5 :1 compression ratio ( I agree with the previous post about not having to drop the compression ratio) It's a trade off to a certain extent of drop compression increase boost or keep the compression and run less boost. High compression 8 or higher boost, plan on some sort of intercooling.

I would love to see a supercharger kit for around 4K, but I don't see that as a reality...even a kit for the Vette was $5600 and those are only basic things, not counting the software to reprogram you ECM and all the other fuel related bits and pieces, I'm realistically about 8K.

For those who care...

A rough estimate of the horsepower you can make:

Boost + 14.7 / 14.7 + pressure ratio

Pressure ratio * HP + Estimated horse power

12 +14.7 /14.7 = 1.816

300 * 1.816 = 544.89 (I'm seeing ~522 HP 56 lb/min , 785 CFM)

The earlier post was asking about 7 pounds of boost with the Crossfire...

7 +14.7 /14.7= 1.47

215 * 1.47= 317. 38

I would also suggest an intercooler or minimum water injection system... it tremendously aids in getting rid of spark knock and for the most part allowing you to run close to stock timing, as was alsom mentions you can get a suplimental fuel system running with a 2 bar MAP ststem to handle additional fuel and I would think a means of externally controlling your advance like a MSD BTM .
