285 is the widest tire that 'should' be mounted on the rear 9" wide rim. Some have gone 295, but is not recommended. And ad nauseum, the biggest tire safely up front is 235/40R18. To put it another way, on OEM rims, the controlling factor in the rear is the rim width (9"). Up front, the controlling factor is interference with the control arm nut. Yikes.
