When ColorGlo redyed our couch, the guy used an air brush and a very fine sand paper. He sanded the leather to "lift" the surface of the leather and then air brushed on the dye. Is that what your guy did to your leather?

I tend to think your guy used a paint rather than a dye since plastic can't be dyed like leather.
