Well it was in the afternoon over there so it caught "the world" off guard in the middle of the working day. Along with the coverage of of the "Tragedy in America" there was a lot of coverage of how the rest of the world was reacting.
It seemed that, and rightly so, the US coverage was focusing on what was happening and trying to understand who and why.
The UK media was letting the US media cover that, as they was better situated to do so. It is my opinion (and only mine) that while the US got more detailed coverage of the event, the rest of the world got a more 10,000 foot view of how the whole world stopped.
It is amazing to me how you gain a different perspective on a lot of things by stepping out of your own media pool for an extended period of time. I hope that I never lose the change in perception that gave me.
