At the end of last year, I needed a car of my own (had been driving my dad's company vehicles) and wanted to pay for it myself. I really wanted a German made coupe, and almost bought a 1961 Mercedes 220se coupe in great condition. It would be my daily driver which made me think it over a little longer and by the time I went to make an offer on the car, it was sold.
I then looked at the Z4's and the 328xi coupe. My whole life's savings amounted to just over $18,000, and was about to graduate college, so the BMW's were too expensive. I remembered seeing the Crossfire's when they first came out and thought they were great, but could not afford one. I searched ebay one night and found a new '07 6 speed Crossfire coupe 40 miles away at a Chrysler dealership and they were asking $20,000. The next morning I let my dad call and make a lower offer (he is the ultimate negotiator), and they called back a couple of hours later to say it was mine if I wanted it. Sight unseen, I put a deposit on it and it sat on the lot for another 2 weeks because my CD had not matured yet. When I finally was able to get to the dealership, and sat in
my car that I purchased, I immediately fell in love with the car and could not believe that I owned it (and still can't 9 months later).
So was it worth spending every penny that I had on the Crossfire?...Absolutely.
