Re: Winter Driving
I just got my Roadster LTD this morning (aero blue, black/slate interior)--yay! I've been like a kid waiting for Christmas--purchased it a week ago Saturday, was supposed to get it this past Saturday, but let it sit at the dealer's this weekend with the 15 inches of snow, since I have no garage. They mother-henned me to death--it was a good call, though. Better it should be the old VW Cabrio getting dug out yesterday than the new car.
Anyway: I have the all-weather tires and today, coming home from work, got to see what the car is like in the snow. There's a lot of useful info on this site, and I'd already read up on it...and I'm pleased to say that it was actually great in the bad weather. (I work in northwestern NJ and live about 30 miles east (Morristown), and the snow was coming down something fierce, with Route 80 just a couple of tire tracks through the snow in two lanes.) I experienced absolutely no sliding or slipping. Not to say that I won't take it to an empty parking lot and play a bit at some point, since I've only ever had front-wheel drive cars, and I'd like to get a real feel for this thing in bad weather off the highway. But I was very pleased.
I live up a gradual hill, and the plowing was bad (snow, no blacktop visible). Just got up it by going slowly. Little slipping but nothing I couldn't handle. Overall, very pleased.
And I am LOVING the car thus far. In fact, I'm going to go do some errands I'd usually just put off, only because I want to drive it.
