Re: autocross junkies
The Driver's Edge autocross event is Oct. 3 and 4th at Texas World Speedway in College Station - if anyone is interested (see my post of racing S-2000s). It will be my first time to do anything like this. I have put on Koni Shocks and Eibach Springs. The front sits lower than expected (1" but looks like two inches). Now the original front tires rub at times (at top center on sharp turns). The rear is fine even though it was lowered by 1.3". There is still plenty of room on the rear for larger tires.
I love the way the car handles; better than expected. However, I may need lower profile tires on the front (225/35). Any suggestions from you "autocross junkies"? Since the front tires are only hitting the plastic wheel well it may be O.K. unitil it is time to buy new tires. My other option is to put the stock springs back on; at least until my TWS event is over.
I am also dealing with camber issues due to the lower springs. I had to buy a camber kit for the front and the rear (not installed yet). This project is turning into a money pit. I ended up buying a K-mac front camber kit and a rear camber kit from speedybenz.com. Both were rather expensive ($350 for the front and close to $300 for the rear).
I hope I love my first autocross enough to compensate for the expense.
