Default Code showing up that doesn't exist?

Hey all, I've got a stumper. I've got a 2004 Crossfire with 4500 miles on it. it started to sputter when it is cold outside when I started it up, and was not switching gears correctly (automatic). I took it in to the dealer, and since then (a week now) they keep saying that they are getting a code to come up that no one knows what it is. The mechanic (technician), the Chrysler repair hotline, the engineers, and even the engineer team in Germany cannot tell what is wrong with the car, because the code that the car is giving "doesn't exist". In the meantime I have Chrysler paying for my rental car. Does anyone have any idea about what they would do next if they were me?

Thank you,

Steve
