Default Re: iphone junkies...

I currently have an iPhone for work and a Blackberry Curve for personal use. I've had other Blackberries, and while the device is great, it's got nothing on the iPhone. (OK, I do love the Curve's keyboard, but that's about it.)

The single greatest feature of the iPhone is software. That's what it's all about. Sure there's the MMS crap, and its other shortcomings that are slowly being fixed (very slowly, I might add), but the easy and CHEAP availability of software for the iPhone is what makes it great.

The fact is you're gonna carry some hunk of plastic and circuitry in your pocket all the time. Who doesn't have a cell phone? Don't you want that same hunk of plastic to do as much for you as possible? Sure, I could carry around an old Motorola StarTAC if all I wanted was a phone, but why not carry an internet browser, calculator, email, calendar, etc. etc. etc. etc?

I paid $15 for Dynolicious or maybe it was REV, I don't remember. Who cares? I've paid more than that for a round of drinks. The fact is that there is a program for the iphone to do just about anything. A but-load of them are free, most of the rest are 99 cents! Sure there are apps over $100 for the iPhone (most directed at doctors), but again I say: so what? You're paying for PORTABLE - IN-YOUR-POCKET - functionality? How much is that worth to you?

For crying out loud, if you want to ***** about expensive software lets talk about $500 for Microsoft Office! WTF!?! Or if you want to ***** about prices of expensive stuff for our cars, can you think of ANYTHING else you can buy for your Crossfire for less? There isn't much. A DashDAQ with Zietronix and O2 sensor would cost you around $700. Hell, a cold air intake costs $500 and a friggin ECU tune (just software!) costs $500.

If you really want to ***** about the iphone, ***** about AT&T's $30/month "unlimited" data plan which you can't even tether from. Now THAT is bull-sheet.
