You should never lock yourself out anyway.... it is nearly impossible. The doors will not lock if the key is in the ignition. If the car is off and the key is in the ignition, there is an annoying alarm when the door is open.

Not to mention the lock button is inside the car in the center console. It is simply easier to just use the remote to lock it and I can't imagine anyone would lock themselves out of the car.

It is not like the older cars where you get out and push the lock lever down or the power lock button on the door. If you get out of the car and try to use the lock button, you have to get back in the car and push the center console button. In 4 years I never used that button... I hardly knew it was there!
