I noticed the same issue before as well... Since I have a sportbike as well that runs hot as hell (2005 Yamaha R1), I bought some Motul "MoCool" and tried it on the bike... Worked wonders, to the point that it typically runs 10-15 degrees celcius cooler when I'm beating on it... So I poured in the appropriate amount into the crossfire, and now it always hovers between 1/4 and 1/2 as long as I'm driving... In traffic, it still sits slightly above half until the fan kicks in. Then it drops down to half...
