Given I'm using a top-rated synthetic, is it really mechanically necessary to change the oil? If you started it every few weeks you should be ok. I change mine every 1000 miles, but I take it to the track. Sometimes it sits for a month or more in between visits. I just fire it up every week or so to keep the battery strong. Mine always looks very clean at the 1000 mark as well.
