I'll go with the
tighed1 on this. The FSS (Flexible Service System) actually does a pretty good job of analyzing the oil - just short of an actual lab test - but I'd ignore any reference it makes to time. The way it measures contaminants in the oil weighed against your driving style is pretty clever.
I make a habit of changing every 5K or so, but always reset the FSS as a final word and reminder.
